He was a part of the Indian Test squad that toured Australia in 2011–12, however he did not get a Test cap. Due to the star studded batting line-up of Indian Test Team comprising Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir at top, he has been unable to find the spot in Indian Test team despite several good performances in domestic cricket as well as in India-A tours.
